MWAN Delta started in 1991 with Dr ROSEBUD NWAFOR as president after the creation of Edo and
Delta State from Bendel State but stopped functioning after a few years hence the need for a formal
inauguration. The official inauguration was on 2nd may 2003. The pioneer post inauguration president
was Dr Mininim Oseji.
The current president is Dr Aghogho Akpe. There are about 50 active members currently, even though
there are over 250 female medical doctors in Delta State. There are 4 zones (Abraka/eku, Asaba,
Sapele and Warri) operating effectively, headed by zonal coordinators. Our target is to get more
members actively involved in MWAN activities so as to reach out to more areas especially the Delta
central and riverine parts of the State.
