MWAN Jigawa state chapter was initiated over 5years ago, and was successfully inaugurated on 12th
January 2023 in Kano. The pioneer state president is Dr( Mrs) Yamuna Aminu Kani, who is an associate
Professor and a consultant Obstrician and Gynaecologist, Federal University Dutse, Jigawa state.
The state chapter has about 35 members out of whom about 10 are presently active due to the fact that
most of the others are pursuing residency training outside the state and some others are currently
outside the country.
The chapter strives to contribute to the state government’s efforts in women empowerment and poverty
alleviation, cervical and breast cancer reduction through screening campaigns and free screening,
reduction in maternal and infant mortality in the state through health awareness programs,
improvement in quality healthcare delivery.
